Earthquake Resistant Structures

We are a group of Drexel students, collaborating to work on an engineering design project. During the course, students, like ourselves, will use the engineering design process to solve an engineering problem. From this experience, we will be able to apply this process to real world problems.

About The

Project

The project introduces students to earthquake engineering by learning about how a building responds to the seismic forces caused by an earthquake. We will design and construct a building using K'Nex pieces that will then be placed on a shake table, simulating the effects of an earthquake. In addition, we will add various elements to our design to improve resistance and response.
